Jane Lynch Is A Mom In iCarly

The incomparable Jane Lynch is keeping busy. Aside from her breakout roll in 'Glee,' she's worked on 'The Cleveland Show,' 'Neighbors from Hell' and made time to return to 'Party Down' for its final episode.

Now she's heading to Nickelodeon for a guest role on their No. 1 show, 'iCarly,' according to The Ausiello Files.

While Carly's best friend Sam (Jennette McCurdy) is always seen at Carly's house, she does have a home of her own, and a mother she talks about but has never been seen on the show. That won't be the case for long, as Lynch has been perfectly cast in that role for an episode that begins filming this week.

While it's not clear what kind of demeanor the character will have, we can already see a "family resemblance" between Sam Puckett and Sue Sylvester, Lynch's mean cheerleading coach on 'Glee.' Both are aggressive, strong, opinionated, a little frightening and may have a few screws loose.

The role should bring Lynch's brilliance to a whole new audience base, and she might even pull some of them back to 'Glee' with her. Maybe she can convince 'iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove, who already has a recording career, to return the favor.
