Beatles Surrender To The Void

Paul McCartney was asked, by The Daily Telegraph, about the role drugs played in the Beatles' work and he replied "um, er, probably quite important. It was a development thing."

"It's difficult - I think the answer is quite. It certainly made us stretch further than we might otherwise, from Rubber Soul onwards. But I have the problem now - now that things have got a bit out of control - of not wanting to be seen advocating it. ’Cos we did some pretty good work before that, as well. It's not a requirement."

I don't dispute they did classic work before drugs, but it sure as hell pushed their music to a new, more sophisticated level.  Just listen to "Tomorrow Never Knows" for a taste of it. The lyrics - the music - makes you feel like you're on an acid trip by simply listening to it.

Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream.

The Vatican announced that even though the Beatles "took drugs, swept up by their success" and "lived dissolute and uninhibited lives", (and haven't played together in over 40 years and two of the four members are dead), they're cool so all is forgiven!
 

"They even said they were more famous than Jesus. But, listening to their songs, all of this seems distant and meaningless."
 
Wow, this seems so relevant and important to todays headlines. Let's not address the sexual abuse scandals rocking the Catholic church but instead focus on favorite rock bands.

I predict their next revelation will be in another 40 years when they forgive Chris Brown for beating the shit out of Rihanna because at the end of the day, isn't it all about the music and Chris Brown is soooo cool!
